It is a potential reality, possibly admitted by a few, that TinCanKnits might make me into a Sweater Knitter. At the very least for small sized people.
This summer saw several small sweaters on and off the needles, and a dent in my Socks That Rock stash concurrently. I'm down to only Quite a Lot of BMFA, not quite so much in the Are You Ever Going to Knit All That Up category.
This was the last finished sweater but my favorite of the three yarns. It's BMFA STR lightweight and in the Dye Dreamer colorway. I just had to check the site to see if it was a one-off but I found it in the multi-color wave. You too should take your late 90s color loving self and go get some.
The pattern is Raindrops from TinCanKnits and this was the 0-6 month size. I am hoping it will be a good layering piece for the early autumn baby that it was given to. Interestingly, this sweater turned the dye water purple --even with a color catcher. Some black dye had come off on my hands during knitting, which didn't surprise me but this seemed unusual.
Although, now that I think about it--the bucket was full of yellow water when I washed the Big Sister (size 2-4 years) Raindrop sweater.
I've never had problems with long term color for BMFA and these came from the same order, maybe it's the Soak or that batch of STR. I was stretching every inch of yarn on this bright yellow sweater. I had hoped to get to three-quarter sleeves for a busy little girl, but I didn't have enough yardage. (My fault, not the pattern --they were very clear how much yardage was needed, I was working with a slightly smaller skein.)
And then my oldest WIP - this rainbow sweater which has been ignored and needing sleeves for something like three years. Does anyone else remember the regional conference where I cast this on?
This is not BMFA, it's Three Irish Girls in their Space Oddity colorway. This was one of the skeins from early in my All Rainbow Yarn phase and can you blame me? It's so incredibly bright and you jut want to keep going to another color pop and another.
I love how the sleeves clustered colors. This is also a TCK pattern-- it's FlaxLight. This is my fourth time through this pattern (including my most recent adult sweater, which I must actually get out and wear this fall). It continues to be excellently clear. I almost wish I was still teaching my kids' group, they would have all loved using the TinCanKnits patterns and would easily have been able to make sweaters.
I have other sweater plans for fall, AudioGirl helped me plan, but I have to get through the first week of the semester before that.
