If you follow me on Instagram (hedgielib over there, on Twitter, and Ravelry), you know I currently have zero pairs of socks on the needles. All the pairs that had been lurking around Chez Hedgehog for months or years have been finished up, ends woven in, and they are set aside for their various designees. While part of me is eyeing the stash trying to determine which pair comes next, I'm also realistic enough to note that I haven't hit 5K yet for Stash Dash, the WIP bin is still overflowing, and most of these projects need 3-5 hours and then they too will be done and off to be gifted.
So, since ears continue to need warmth: hats.
This is a modified sockhead out of some BMFA Socks that Rock in a Rare Gem Earth colorway. It's almost to the point it is ready for decreases, I like a lot of ribbing so that it can be folded over ears for extra warmth. But this should be completed this week.
Also nearly ready for it's decreases is this multi-colored sorta-using-the-wurm pattern hat. It's horizontal ribbing, but entirely on a size 4 (3.5mm) needle. The yarn was a gift from the Lab Mouse when she went to Italy last year. I'll likely have enough left over to do some kind of headband/earwarmer thing also.
I have two other hats either started or nearly so (yarn has been wound). The idea of hats -- single or two skein projects -- worsted weight or DK, which only take a few hours and then are done and can head off to live with their new owners to brighten the winter sky, it's appealing. And it would make a dent in the stash.
But there's also that bin and other things that need to be completed first. If I can get 3-4 more small projects completed, my 5km will be assured and I can start wondering again what The Loopy Ewe has in store for me this fall. Oh, and waiting on some new yarn to arrive, but that'll be a few weeks...
