Blankets: Done, Shipped, and Delivered

I drafted this post on April 9, the day I mailed the blankets, though I waited until well after delivery date to finish edit/post so as not to surprise either of the recipients, who may see this on FB/Twitter/IG/elsewhere.  After two flat out months of knitting, the baby blankets are off to their new owners. I-cord bind offs completed and all the ends woven in.

Blanket 1 went to a former coworker from my current place of work.  I've known her thru her engagement, got to see the plans for the wedding location, and we have really missed her when she and her husband moved away. So of course I wanted to send this hug. She knew something was up; J has seen me knit extensively for as long as we've known each other.  I texted her a while back with "any least favorite colors??" and went from there.  The green is so wonderfully vibrant; I hope it'll be a favorite place for the baby to hang out.

Blanket 2 went to a coworker from New York who I haven't gotten to hug in years. A loves fall and pumpkin spice everything and I wanted something that would remind her of fall trees. It might be a little intense for the nursery, but it should show up nicely in the grass at the park or in the back yard.

Frustratingly for baby snuggles or catching up with said girl friends, neither lives nearby. So I made sure to add a small package of leftover yarn to be tucked in a drawer in case something gets worried loose later on or an end needs a bit of repair.  The last baby blankets I made for the twins a couple of years ago; I can still make house calls when they are excessively loved.

It was a relief to get these wrapped up and shipped out.  They've been done for a week or so and just waiting on me to add tape and addresses and tissue paper.  One baby has already arrived, the other is due soon.

Into the post they went and the tracking was watched most carefully! After one baby blanket went missing a few years ago (we did finally get it back), I'm always a bit nervous about sending several dozen hours of my time in a box and on it's way elsewhere.

A Redo
