I know, I feel so bad for me too... I'm using yarn I adore. To make socks. (We'll discuss the rest of my fingering weight stash another day -- I didn't realize just how much of it really is inappropriate for sock knitting due to fiber content, twist, etc.)
First, the project that has had less work:
This colorway amuses me so much. Chasing Flamingos. It's vibrant and looks like saltwater taffy and unicorns. I expect small children to attempt to steal it if I take it out into public. And what better yarn than that to take to a Kesha concert? (She's not using $ anymore.)
This was my attempt in the dark at Ravinia at the end of the concert. You can see I didn't get very far but it's started. These are going to be fabulous socks. And they are living with me until they die. I should probably knit the leftovers into baby mitts or something.
This is the other pair rolling around on the needles -- in the colorway Royal. It's been in the stash for five years according to Ravelry (my external brain). And you can see these are stuck in a holding pattern--which was a theme this week wasn't it? -- I need the Philosopher to be home and try on at least one sock so I can get a sense of how long until the toe. I can count rows and mimic, but I'm bad at that first foot length estimation. I'm pretty sure the sock on the left is closer-- but do I need 1 more inch or two?
So yes, we're officially back to sock as one of the on the go projects. You didn't think that hiatus would truly last did you?
