It's not Rainbow.

I was over in Ann Arbor last weekend presenting a new workshop and squeezing in a bit of time with a couple of friends who live near there. It's always a good sign when a friend who does not knit can immediately think of a yarn store that you really must visit.

It was both RV and I's first trip into Spun. The staff were immediately welcoming and, hearing I was in from out of town, had the absolutely correct response "so you'd like to see things that are dyed here in Michigan!"

Of course I would.

They also had a wall of Vesper sock yarn and I had to resist very very hard in order to not buy the most rainbow-y BRIGHT skein that was there. I don't knit self-striping yarns, so it would have been not particularly useful for me to spend my money on yarn I won't be happy with or use to it's best purpose. Resoundingly I did leave it for others. Go, buy the beautiful rainbows and knit precise socks.

So instead of buying Vesper which will go unloved, I found this delightful skein from a Michigan dyer:

It's a lovely pale pink that makes me think of spring tulips. It also, I noticed as taking photos, looks smashing with a pair of dark wash jeans.

The yarn is from fiberstory. I notice they are currently moving homes and so there isn't anything available for you to buy, but I'm sure if you bookmark it delightful things will show up in your Etsy favorites very soon.  This was the fingering weight, they had the color also on a DK skein but I have a specific project in mind, although the pattern I originally was thinking of calls for sportweight. Ah well, that's what the Ravelry Advanced Search Features are for.

I also found up by the cash register this ADORABLE needle sizer. Because I need a fourth one. But none of the other ones are a hedgehog!!  I obviously needed it.  This is from Katrinkles, who I recall running across before but this is my first purchase from them. Oh wait...I think Catherine got me a magnet from them.

Anyway, this is going into the needle stash to be used regularly and repeatedly as I try and fail to keep my works in progress and needle stash under control.

Now I just need to not buy more yarn before YarnCon. It's only three weeks away!

A Redo
